The historical site Berlin-Hohenschoenhausen is a memorial and a place of remembrance for the political persecution during the postwar period through the Soviet intelligence NKVD and in the GDR through the Ministry of State Security. From 1945 to 1989 the place was a remand prison for political prisoners and since 1994 it is a historical site. For the Contemporary Witness Bureau and the exhibition's redesign astfilm productions has interviewed former political prisoners throughout Germany.
